About Me

I am a self-taught amateur baker. I've only learned to bake when I came here in England to join my husband. It started as a hobby as I find baking very therapeutic until my friends finally convinced me to do made-to-order cakes after I posted pictures of my very amateurish creations. My hubby's colleagues at work got to taste my baked goodies every week as I bake his baon (AKA packed snacks or morning/afternoon tea) and they loved them (well, maybe most of them). My hubby also told me that he has been hooked to my baked cakes and said that it is because of them that he has now the dreaded man 'tummy.' Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing though (?!).

I always have been daydreaming to open a cafe. Since it is financially impossible at this point, this is the closest I can get to that 'dream.' Of course I already have a name handy thus the birth of Heaven in a Box. I wasn't thinking of my own cakes when I thought of that name. I was actually thinking of my own favorite treats that come in a box like my favorite Krispy Kreme doughnuts or some freshly baked pizza. But I got stuck to it and I loved the way it sounded. Of course, I immediately looked for businesses with the same name so that's why I added my name to personalise it as well. I just hope that I am able to live up to that name (fingers crossed).

The idea for the logo is one of the preset templates I used from Vista Print, where I  had my stickers and post cards (with holiday greetings) made. I guess I got overexcited after I conceptualized the name but I really wanted to put my label on the cake boxes and make them look presentable. I just changed the font styles and color to make it a bit vintage-inspired as I'm into vintage prints and colors lately (a la Cath Kidston) ever since I planned on this year's Christmas decorations, after seeing in Pinterest that red and aquamarine blue make a good combination.

For now I'll just have this for the holiday season because of the high demand (due to the festivities) and of course, concentrate only in the Horsham area. So that's it and I hope you enjoy looking at my creations. If you're in the Horsham area or nearby and you wanted to order one of the cakes, just drop me a line here.
