This Week

I had my much needed calm after a crazy and hectic week. I still managed to make two cakes - one for a little miss whose mum requested for a Strawberry Shortcake and the other was for a good friend of mine who loves butterflies (good time to make use of my buttercream flowers practice "skills").

Lovely photos courtesy of my hubby (you may check his website on one of the tabs above).

This is a Strawberry Shortcake, as requested. It's a soft spongy strawberry flavoured cake filled and covered with creamy strawberry frosting, with real strawberries inside and out.

This is my usual Ube Macapuno Cake with Swiss Meringue Buttercream adorned with buttercream flowers and wafer butterflies. This is my attempt on the wreath cake, although I know I still have a lot to improve. I hope my friend loved this as I have always included butterflies on my friend's birthdays over the years.

XOXO

Weekend Events

I am now trying to be up-to-date with this blog and hopefully soon, I can update the contents on the tabs. It has been an exhausting weekend with two consecutive events/orders for Saturday and Sunday.

SATURDAY
This was for a baby's christening and the event stylist/caterer had organised with me requesting for some flowers and butterflies on the cake and cupcakes. The theme colours were also pink, lilac and powder blue.

The top cake and pink cupcakes were chocolate whilst the lilac cake and blue cupcakes were ube macapuno. The cupcakes on the stand were less than the 24 ordered as the guests already started eating them when I just went to get my phone to take some pictures. Since I love pasfel colours especially pink, this is definitely one of my favorites.

SUNDAY
Another big project and my first time to try (and challenge myself) the 3-tier cake. It was stressful transporting the cake and praying that it won't collapse. Thank God it held the whole time but I was still stressed because it started to slide down towards the back and no amount of fixing made it slide back...I tried but it just slid down. Maybe it was not level, I don't really. Maybe next time, I should be
putting another stabiliser which is inserted into the 3cakes.

Top - Spiderman Chocolate Cake
Middle - Superman Ube Macapuno Cake
Bottom - Batman Mango Cake

Everything edible except for the skyline/buildings on the bottom cake, as the wafer paper II ordered online was too big. I also cut out the clouds from the excess sugar paper logos.

Busy is an Understatement

I did not realise that I never had a single post for this year and it is already the last quarter of 2016. It has been so busy and in a way, this has affected my health. I was even close to giving up baking (but I just can't). If I had the time, I will try to sort out the Menu option of this blog to update my "prehistoric" cake pictures lol.

For now, this will be a long display of cake pictures and I hope they all visit.

PS: The "older" cakes are no longer on my photostream so I may find a way to post this some other time in a throwback-ish write-up. That's how delayed my posts are. Oh well, the baking has to be the priority than the writing. :p
